Abstract

This study examined the impact of artificial intelligence adoption on leadership styles in UAE technology organizations. The research focused on how AI influences leadership decision-making, leadership transformation, organizational readiness, and barriers linked to AI use. The study was guided by the view that AI is not only a technical tool, but also a factor that can reshape managerial practice, strategic thinking, and organizational culture.

An explanatory mixed-method design was used. Quantitative data were collected through a structured questionnaire from 100 respondents working in UAE technology organizations. Qualitative data were then gathered through five semi-structured interviews with managers to explain and deepen the survey results. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability testing, correlation analysis, and regression analysis, while the qualitative data were interpreted thematically.

The findings showed high AI adoption in the sampled organizations and strong positive views of AI as a decision-support tool. Decision Support had a strong positive relationship with Leadership Transformation, while Organizational Readiness showed a weaker positive relationship. Barriers and Concerns had a negative effect on leadership transformation. The results also showed that AI use alone was less important than the perceived usefulness of AI in improving decision quality, speed, and confidence. The interview findings supported these results by showing that managers viewed AI mainly as a support tool rather than a replacement for human leadership, especially in ethically sensitive or complex situations.

The study concludes that AI can strengthen leadership in UAE technology organizations when it is supported by organizational readiness, relevant skills, and responsible governance.
